A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

This game was made for the Acerola Jam 0.

Your science experiment has failed (by succeeding), which caused the laws of physics to be reshaped. Now gravity won't decrease with distance anymore; distant planets will have similar gravitational effects as earth does on you. This state is called "False Vacuum", and it will spread at the speed of light through the Universe.

There's good news though: Even at light speed the False Vacuum will need a few minutes before reaching other planets in the solar system. This is enough time for you to redo the experiment and to revert the modifications of physics.

Fun Fact: This game is inspired by the theory of the False Vacuum Decay, which is an actual theory made by scientists, with similar speculated effects.

This game was made using the Bevy game Engine (written in Rust)

All assets used during development (except for music MIDI samples) were made by me. For completeness, I'll list all used programs below:

  • 3D-Modeling and Texturing - Blender
  • Music - Musescore
  • Images - Blender and GIMP
  • Audio - Audacity

The music is not an original melody, it's a mix of different volk songs, some Russian, some Finnish.

Other notes about assets:

  • The "Task completion" sound is a slightly edited Musescore sample, all other sound effects have been synthesized or recorded in Audacity
  • All Sound samples used for the music belong to Musescore
  • I can provide project files on request

Also I'm sorry in advance for my Spaghetti Code if you decide check the source out :3

Theme explanation:

The game's main idea is that the laws of Physics have been altered in a way that would make life as we know it impossible. (Which is quite an unwelcome change in reality if you ask me)

Install instructions

  • Regular Windows or Linux build can be unzipped and played right away
  • If you want to play an earlier version of the game (using git), you can add the assets from Dev_Assets.zip. These are assets used during development which aren't included in the game anymore.

A very fun and silly little game, although the screwdriver and the hammer were *really* hard to see, so I didn't win until the second time around!

A bit of a suggestion would be to add some randomness for things like the password, and to make it a bit more clear that "cleaning the quantum bridge" just means throwing out the filter!

I guess that'd be post-jam stuff though, so oh well
